Roger Stone’s presents Episode 4: "What’s Wrong with this Picture?"
Conservative principles in the era of Trump: Going . . . going . . . gone!
“What’s Wrong with this Picture” examines conservative principles gone badly awry in the era of Donald Trump.
Episode 1 examined the conservative principles of limited government and individual liberty.
Narrator Stone reported that Trump and libertarian buddies like Peter Thiel neatly distilled those two principles to no government whatsoever and a kind of personal liberty secured only by a South Seas bunker and Praetorian Guard of one’s own.
(Billionaires only need apply).
Episode 2 considered the conservative precepts of free markets and fiscal responsibility.
In light of the Trump Family way of doing business, those precepts nicely boil down to just plain cheating – “cheating the likes of which you’ve never seen, so much cheating.”
Episode 3 addressed a bedrock principle of conservatism - Freedom of worship (and the concomitant conservative virtues of faith, hope and love) in the divine light of Pope Francis’s inspiring new message that “all are welcome, all are loved.”
The theologically twisted response of Trump, his Christian Nationalist brethren and some conservative U.S. Catholic bishops?
For God’s sake, Pope Francis, what’s love got to do with it?
Today, in Episode 4, Roger Stone prognosticates about the future under Putin pal Trump of conservatism’s most prized principle - these United States as leader of the Free World.
A principle necessarily embracing a robust U.S. foreign policy, instrumental in uniting allies of the supreme republican values of freedom and democracy, a policy wisely and courageously devoted to defending and sustaining the rules-based international order.
This quintessential conservative value is perhaps best captured in the motto of the Commonwealth of Virginia - home of eight U.S. presidents (George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, Zachary Taylor and Woodrow Wilson):
Sic semper tyrannis!

Favoring Foes Over Friends, Trump Threatens to Upend International Order

[Excerpts:]
. . . [Trump] took it to a whole new level over the weekend, declaring at a rally in South Carolina that not only would he not defend European countries he deemed to be in arrears from an attack by Russia, he would go so far as to “encourage” Russia “to do whatever the hell they want” against them. Never before has a president of the United States — even a former one aspiring to reclaim the office — suggested that he would incite an enemy to attack American allies.
Encouraging Russia to attack NATO allies, even if he were not fully serious, is a stunning statement that highlights his odd affinity for President Vladimir V. Putin, who has already proved his willingness to invade neighboring countries that do not have the protection of NATO.
